Parties
This agreement is between you and Jiwon Pi of [FIELD: registered address] ("we"), the licensor of the KairoLock Windows application. Installing or using the application means you accept it. Questions can be sent to support@kairolock.com.
Licence grant
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the application on Windows devices you own or are authorised to administer, for as long as your account holds an active trial or subscription where one is required. You are buying access to the software, not the software itself.
What the software does on your device
KairoLock installs a Windows service and is designed to apply Windows Firewall rules that stop the applications and sites you have committed to blocking from reaching the network, for the duration you chose. Installing it therefore changes firewall configuration on your device and requires administrator rights. Blocking is network-layer: a blocked program still starts, it just cannot reach the network, and copying or renaming the executable defeats a rule matched on its path. No build we have released applies those rules yet; the service in the shipped build runs on a mock policy backend, and the first release whose service applies real firewall rules will say so in its release notes. The enforcement is designed to survive a reboot and to resist a casual attempt to undo it; we do not claim it cannot be bypassed.
Device authority and informed consent
You must own the device or be authorised to administer it. You must understand the duration, the recovery conditions and what will be blocked before you start a commitment. You must not install KairoLock secretly on someone else's device, or use it to restrict another person without lawful authority and their informed consent.
Restrictions
You may not resell, sublicense or redistribute the application, tamper with it in order to sell or publish a bypass, extract credentials belonging to the service, or interfere with the integrity of the service for other users. Nothing in this section restricts anything you are permitted to do by law, including interoperability, security research and reverse engineering that applicable law protects.
Updates and supported Windows versions
The application is supplied for 64-bit Windows. The supported Windows versions for a given release are stated in that release's notes, and we do not promise that any version will keep working on future Windows builds.
Safety and recovery
Known recovery behaviour and its limits are documented in the application and in the release notes, and you should read them before starting a commitment. You remain responsible for your own backups, for retaining access to your device and its administrator account, and for not committing to block anything you may need for safety, care, work, education or a legal obligation.
Term and termination
The licence lasts while your entitlement lasts, and ends if you breach this agreement. When it ends you must stop using the application and uninstall it. Any firewall rules KairoLock created are tagged KairoLock and can be taken out in Windows Firewall settings or with kairo-service policy-rollback; check that none remain after uninstalling, because uninstalling while a commitment is still running is not designed to clean them up for you.
Governing law
This agreement is governed by the Republic of Korea, without affecting any mandatory consumer right under the law of the country where you live.
What we promise about the software
We will supply the application with reasonable care and skill, and it will work broadly as described on this site and in its release notes. Beyond that, and except for anything the law does not let us exclude, the application is licensed as it is: we do not promise that it is free of faults, that it will run on every configuration of Windows, or that it will prevent any particular bypass.
Liability
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law where you live does not allow to be limited, including any mandatory consumer right.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit, revenue, data or opportunity, or for loss arising because you could not reach something you had chosen to block. Our total liability under this agreement for all claims arising in any twelve month period is limited to the amount you paid for KairoLock in that period, and to the price of one month of the subscription if you have paid nothing.
If the licence ends
Ending this licence does not by itself refund anything you have already paid; refunds are governed by the Refund Policy. If we end your licence for a reason that is not your breach — for example because we withdraw the product — we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for.
Open-source components and export control
The application includes open-source components supplied under their own licences, and those licences govern those components wherever they say something different from this agreement. The list for a given release is available from support@kairolock.com on request. You must not use or export the application in breach of any export-control or sanctions law that applies to you.
